Photonic quantum technology startup Quanfluence has raised $2 million in a seed funding round led by pi Ventures, with participation from Golden Sparrow, Reena Dayal, and other notable investors.
The Bengaluru-based company plans to utilize the funds to advance its near-term products, bring them to market, and further the research and development of its flagship quantum computer, according to a company statement.
About Quanfluence:
Founded in 2021 by Sujoy Chakravarty, Ravi Mehta, Biman Chattopadhyay, Anil Prabhakar, Aditi Vaidya, and Sandeep Goyal, Quanfluence specializes in photonic quantum technology.
The startup aims to develop a fault-tolerant, general-purpose quantum computer within the next five to six years.
Quanfluence integrates photonic circuits with high-speed Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to achieve greater energy efficiency and scalability compared to conventional technologies.
Its focus is to address challenges such as hardware instability, noise, and scalability limitations, which are common hurdles in quantum computing.

The company claims its hardware-based optimization solutions work alongside artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance decision-making processes. Its optical Ising machine leverages light waves as computational units, allowing simultaneous processing of hundreds of interconnected variables.
This system currently handles 128 interconnected variables (~10,000 permutations) with a reported 100-fold increase in speed for optimization tasks.
Quanfluence intends to test a more advanced version of its system next quarter, targeting the handling of 10-25 million permutations.
This next iteration is designed to solve complex real-world optimization problems such as financial risk management, logistics, workforce scheduling, and delivery route optimization.
