Mumbai-based F&B D2C startup Kaatil, renowned for its innovative hot condiments, has successfully completed its seed funding round with an undisclosed amount. The funding was led by Prajay Advisors, with notable contributions from Shivaan Ghai and Romil Ratra of Graviss Group.

This round marks a significant milestone for Kaatil, following their recent accolade as the recipient of the Great Taste Award 2024 from the Guild of Fine Foods in the U.K. This prestigious recognition highlights Kaatil as the only Indian hot sauce brand specializing in chilies to achieve such acclaim.

Capital Utilization and Expansion Plans

The newly acquired funds will be strategically invested in broadening Kaatil’s product range and enhancing its market presence. The company plans to expand its reach through various national and international distribution channels, including e-commerce platforms, quick commerce services, and traditional retail stores.

Additionally, Kaatil aims to launch a dedicated B2B supply division to cater to the needs of restaurants, hotels, and cafés.

The funding, primarily achieved through the issuance of shares amounting to ₹72 crore, is part of the company’s Series B round, which aims to secure $10 million in total.

About Kaatil

Founded in Mumbai in 2021 by Sagar Merchant and Arjun Panwar, Kaatil was created to address the gap in the Indian market for high-quality hot condiments.

The brand offers a diverse array of products, including hot sauces, hot ketchup, and chili oils, all crafted from Indian chilies. Each product features a numerical designation to indicate spiciness, making it easier for customers to choose according to their heat preference.

Kaatil’s products are available through its direct-to-consumer website (www.kaatil.in), and are also listed on major platforms such as Amazon, Big Basket, and Nature’s Basket.

The brand has expanded its presence to physical stores across Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad, and its products are now available in Amazon USA and retail locations in Canada and New Zealand.

The surge in demand for Kaatil’s products is driven by a growing customer base, including home chefs, party hosts, caterers, and individuals seeking convenient and flavorful meal solutions. With this new funding, Kaatil is poised to further establish its presence and continue its journey of spicing up the global market.
