Moonrider, a Bengaluru-based electric tractor technology startup, has raised $2.2 million (Rs 19 crore) in a seed funding round. The round was co-led by AdvantEdge Founders and Micelio Technology Fund, with participation from a group of angel investors.
The funding will be utilized to advance vehicle engineering, software development, and battery technology, aligning with the company’s goal to lower operational costs for farmers and fleet operators.
Founded in August 2023 by Anoop Srikantaswamy and Ravi Kulkarni, Moonrider is focused on transforming agriculture with heavy-duty electric tractors.
These tractors are designed for reliability, reduced ownership costs, and sustainable farming practices aimed at boosting farm profitability and productivity.
The startup has developed proprietary in-house battery technology and has already filed for a patent.
The founders bring extensive experience in vehicle engineering and EV R&D, having worked with leading companies such as Volvo Group, Ola Electric, and Olectra BYD, providing a strong foundation for Moonrider’s growth.
