Arun Nanda, Chairman of Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd. (MHRIL), after serving the Mahindra group for 50 years, has decided to retire. As per the age limit for non-executive roles, he has informed the Board that he will not seek reappointment and will retire at the upcoming AGM on July 25, according to a statement by MHRIL.
Arun Nanda began his career at Mahindra as an accountant in Calcutta in 1973 and subsequently held various positions, including Executive Director of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Non-Executive Director till 2014.
Nanda’s contributions include Mahindra’s diversification into leisure and hospitality, as well as the establishment of Mahindra World Cities in Chennai and Jaipur.
Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, praised Nanda’s role in the group’s expansion into the leisure and hospitality sector. Anish Shah, MD & CEO of the Mahindra Group, acknowledged Nanda’s role in building the group and providing invaluable guidance.
Nanda expressed his delight at stepping down when Mahindra Holidays is doing well and is poised for a bright future in both India and Finland, and he appreciated the empowerment, support, and trust he received from Keshub Mahindra and Anand Mahindra.
