Dehradun-based KiWi Kisan Window, a platform promoting organic and health-conscious food sourced from Indian farmers, made a notable appearance on the current season of Shark Tank India Season 4.
The startup focuses on offering fresh, high-quality products while supporting sustainable farming practices and local farmers.
Founded in 2017 by Abhinav Ahluwalia and Nnupur Agarwaal, KiWi Kisan Window aims to encourage healthier, more responsible lifestyles through food that not only looks, smells, and tastes good but also feels good.
Among the standout products available at its physical stores are Kashmiri kahwa, spices from Kerala, tea from Assam, and Himalayan cow ghee.
During their Shark Tank India pitch, the founders sought ₹50 lakh for 1% equity at a valuation of ₹50 crore.
They shared that 97% of their sales currently come from offline channels, with only 3% generated online.
The founders drew comparisons to the U.S.-based Trader Joe’s and outlined plans to expand their online presence while highlighting Patanjali and Organic India as competitors.
They also projected achieving sales of around ₹10 crore in 2024.
While considering the pitch, Kunal Bahl, co-founder of Snapdeal and Titan Capital, questioned the founders’ focus on online expansion given that Trader Joe’s exclusively operates offline stores. The founders responded that they aim to reach customers wherever they are.
Initially, Aman Gupta, co-founder of boAt, offered ₹50 lakh for 3% equity, along with a 2% royalty until he recouped double his investment. Azhar Iqubal, co-founder of Inshorts, then partnered with Gupta on this offer.
However, Kunal Bahl made a counteroffer that stood out. Declaring, “When I’m interested in a business, I go all in,” he proposed ₹2.5 crore for 10% equity—five times the initial ask. The founders immediately accepted the deal.
Handing over the cheque, Bahl expressed confidence in their vision, stating, “I will help you become Trader Joe’s of India.”
