The importance of sustainable living has never been more evident as society increasingly seeks ways to integrate eco-friendly solutions into everyday life. This trend is particularly prominent in the architecture and design industry, where there is a growing emphasis on creating spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible.
Personal housing, commercial apartments, and office spaces are increasingly adopting this approach, highlighting the need for harmonious and sustainable living solutions.
Indeville Design Studio®, founded in 2021 by Arpit Kishan, Vishal Singh, and Suresh Jonnalagadda, is leading the charge in this green revolution. The brand’s mission is to transform spaces by integrating innovative designs with the natural environment, creating harmonious and sustainable living solutions.
Starting with a small team in Bangalore, the startup has grown significantly, now operating in Delhi NCR and Patna, with a reputation that extends across India and internationally.
The Genesis of Indeville Design Studio:
The inception of the startup was driven by the founders’ shared concern about the deteriorating environmental conditions and a deep love for nature. They aimed to help clients incorporate nature into their homes, regardless of the available space.
This vision was not without its challenges. As Arpit recalls, “In the initial stages, we faced financial hurdles and even endured losses to ensure we provided top-notch quality to our customers.” The company overcame these obstacles by implementing scalable processes and acquiring all necessary permits and certifications, allowing for national and international expansion.
The strength of the brand lies in its founding members. Arpit Kishan is the visionary leader, driving the company with his passion and innovation. Vishal Singh, a civil engineer with a postgraduate degree in Business Management, brings extensive experience in project administration and people management. Suresh Jonnalagadda, with his IT and marketing background, spearheads the technology and marketing efforts, implementing AI to enhance projects. Kirti Aishwarya, another vital member, champions diversity and women’s empowerment within the company.
Innovative Services and Unique Selling Points:
Indeville Design Studio offers a comprehensive range of services, including biophilic and sustainable architecture for residential, commercial, corporate, and government spaces.
Their expertise extends to landscape architecture, interior design, and urban planning. A standout feature is their proficiency in designing and constructing bamboo handicrafts and structures. This venture began as an exploration of ecological and renewable materials and has since become a cornerstone of their biophilic landscape architecture.
Their in-house manufacturing unit for bamboo treatment and handicraft production sets them apart. This facility allows them to control the quality of their products from start to finish, ensuring that each item meets their high standards for sustainability and craftsmanship. “We wanted to integrate natural products into our designs, which became the foundation of our bamboo products manufacturing unit,” the team explains to CEO VINE.
The bamboo products include furniture, decorative items, and structural elements that add a unique, natural touch to any space.
In addition to this, the brand promotes renewable energy by facilitating solar power installations. They provide solar scaping as part of their landscape design to reduce carbon footprint and advocate for environmentally responsible practices.
The startup also focuses on water conservation strategies and uses eco-friendly materials in all their projects. “Sustainability is at the core of everything we do,” says Indeville team. “We strive to create eco-friendly products and solutions that enhance the natural beauty of a space while promoting greenery.”
The Team and Milestone Projects:
Success is driven by a diverse team of experts. Their marketing team generates leads and promotes projects, while the design and execution team, including architects, landscape architects, horticulturists, and civil engineers, brings client visions to life. The procurement and maintenance teams ensure efficient logistics and year-round care for landscapes. Quality control is a critical final step, ensuring every project meets the highest standards.
“The Courtyard,” a biophilic rooftop restaurant at Manekshaw Centre, Delhi Cantonment is Among their milestone projects. This project, along with landscaping and exterior renovation for a preschool in Bangalore, showcases the brand’s ability to handle diverse and challenging projects.
They have also worked with prestigious clients like the Indian Navy, the Spanish Embassy, and MNCs like Godrej. “We value every individual project, irrespective of whether it’s small or big,” notes Arpit. “Each one gives us an opportunity to serve our client, showcase ourselves, and get new learning.”
Funding and Future Vision:
Initially bootstrapped, the startup secured seed funding through a competition sponsored by the Bihar government. This funding was pivotal in their growth, enabling them to enhance their capabilities and expand their reach.
“The capital injection marked a key moment in our company’s trajectory,” states Arpit. “The support provided by government initiatives has been significant in propelling our growth and enhancing our capabilities.”
Looking ahead, the startup aims to be a leader in Greentech, significantly reducing carbon footprint and contributing to environmental preservation. Their vision is to create a future where urban spaces and nature coexist harmoniously, promoting well-being and sustainability. “Our mission is to lead the way in the green revolution, creating spaces that not only enhance the beauty of our surroundings but also foster a deeper connection with nature,” says Arpit Kishan.
The brand has received several accolades for its contributions to sustainable landscape architecture. They hold the Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification for Greentech practices and are ISO 9001:2015 certified.
In March 2024, they were featured at the Startup Mahakumbh 2024 event in Delhi and received recognition from NITI Aayog for promoting local bamboo handicrafts. Additionally, they earned a Letter of Appreciation from the Indian Army for their work on “The Courtyard.”
They source materials locally to minimize carbon footprints, use eco-friendly resources like bamboo, and implement water conservation strategies. Their designs often include native plants to promote biodiversity, and they advocate for green energy through solar installations.
With visionary leadership, a diverse team, and groundbreaking projects, the startup is poised to shape the future of sustainable living solutions.
