Gaurav Munjal – Co-Founder & CEO, Unacademy

Unacademy, one of India’s largest online education platforms, is co-founded and led by Gaurav Munjal.

Gaurav Munjal was born on September 8, 1990, in Rajasthan, India. He went to St. Xaviers College in Jaipur for his education. He then relocated to Mumbai to study engineering. He attended the prestigious NMIMS University after arriving. Gaurav Munjal, who has had a lifetime interest in technology, began learning to code at a young age.

He had aspired to be an entrepreneur since his undergraduate days. He co-founded Flat Chat, a company that helped students discover housing and flatmates, while studying B.Tech at NMIMS. He also worked as a software developer at Directi for a while. Gaurav launched Unacademy, a YouTube channel where he taught students how to code, in 2010. He managed his education and internship at the same time. Gaurav’s YouTube channel gained popularity within a few months of its launch. As a result, he decided to start a business to assist students in reaching their full potential.

Gaurav tied the knot with Reema Behl. On February 17, the couple married amid great pomp in the groom’s hometown of Jaipur.

Gaurav Munjal enlisted the help of two friends, Hemesh Singh and Roman Saini, established the Unacademy app in December 2015 to create free interactive content. It has over 1 million learners, 5000 registered educators, and over 40,000 sessions launched by 2017.

Unacademy Plus, a subscription-based concept, was launched in February 2019. The Unacademy Plus Subscription gives students access to live classes taught by educators from all across the country in English and 14 Indian languages such as Hindi, Punjabi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Bhojpuri, and others.

Unacademy released Graphy in 2020, which allows entrepreneurs to establish an online school in less 60 seconds.Unacademy will open its first offline learning centre in Kota, Rajasthan, in May 2022.

Gaurav Munjal is quite active in the investment world. He has made over INR370 million in investments in firms such as AIRMEET, Avalon Meta, Pepper Content, One Code, and Dazo. His startup, Unacademy, just launched an offline training programme. Unacademy’s programme will provide many pupils with substantial study materials and outstanding educators. In Kota, Rajasthan, the firm opened its first offline centre. Gaurav’s goal is to lay the groundwork for offline education in numerous places across the country. His next ambition is to open such facilities in Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Patna, Pune, Delhi, and his hometown of Jaipur.

Gaurav Munjal’s entrepreneurial path has served as an inspiration to many. From co-founding Flatchat to starting Unacademy, he has demonstrated that great things can be accomplished with hard effort, devotion, and a clear vision. Unacademy, under his direction, has disrupted India’s traditional education system and made quality education available to millions of students.
