Oncare, a cancer care startup, has successfully raised $1 million in its seed funding round, led by Huddle Ventures. Notable institutional venture capitalists, including TRTL Ventures, Cloud Capital, and DeVC, also contributed to the funding round. This fresh infusion of capital will be instrumental in fueling Oncare’s expansion plans and increasing its presence in India.

The funds will primarily be used to extend Oncare’s reach to 10 new centers across Delhi NCR, Bangalore, and Jaipur over the next two years. Oncare will also use the capital to grow its team and enhance marketing efforts, aiming to promote its cost-effective cancer care solutions to a wider audience.

About Oncare

Founded in 2023 by Deepak Kumar and Amar Sneh, Oncare is transforming cancer care in India by partnering with hospitals housing 50-100 beds to establish specialized oncology wings. This collaboration allows Oncare to offer treatment at 40% lower costs compared to traditional corporate hospitals, where cancer treatments often exceed Rs 10 lakh.

Operating in South Delhi for the past 10 months, Oncare has already supported over 2,500 patients in creating treatment plans and conducted more than 500 treatment sessions. The startup focuses on making high-quality cancer care accessible to a larger population by offering an affordable alternative to expensive treatments. It also provides on-call nursing support to help patients manage treatment side effects and reduce hospital visits, further easing the burden of cancer care.

Industry Insights and Challenges

The need for expanded cancer care services in India is pressing, with the Health of Nation report by Apollo Hospitals predicting that cancer cases will rise from 1.39 million in 2020 to 1.57 million by 2025. The increasing cancer burden highlights the importance of improving access to affordable, high-quality care.

India faces significant challenges in addressing the rising demand for cancer treatment, including high costs, limited access to oncology centers, and a shortage of specialized professionals, particularly in rural areas. Many patients delay or avoid treatment due to financial constraints.

By expanding its network of oncology centers and providing accessible care, Oncare aims to help bridge the gap in cancer treatment in India and address the growing demand for affordable, quality healthcare. The recent funding round will not only drive this mission forward but also pave the way for further growth and innovation in the years to come.
