In a remarkable transformation, Odisha has rapidly evolved into a leading IT hub in Eastern India, marking its presence on the national IT map. Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Odisha has seen an influx of IT investments, driven by a conducive business environment and policies aimed at fostering industrial growth. The Chief Minister’s efforts have been instrumental in positioning the state as a magnet for industrial and IT investments.
A significant leap in this journey was the recent inauguration of Cognizant’s first facility in Bhubaneswar by Mr. Patnaik. This state-of-the-art center, sprawling over 52,000 square feet, is designed to accommodate 1,000 associates in a hybrid work model, creating numerous employment opportunities and boosting the local economy.
Chief Minister Patnaik, at the inauguration, highlighted Cognizant’s entry as a milestone for Odisha, reinforcing its status as a premier IT investment destination. He emphasized the state’s emerging role as a “destination of the future,” characterized by its escalating scale of investment, burgeoning talent pool, and ambitious growth trajectory. Odisha’s focus on creating a robust ecosystem that supports entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and new-age businesses was also underscored.
Cognizant’s CEO, Ravi Kumar S, expressed his enthusiasm for the expansion into Bhubaneswar, acknowledging the state’s entrepreneurial spirit, educational excellence, strong infrastructure, and promising talent. He praised the Government of Odisha for its support and efficiency in facilitating the establishment of the new center.
The state’s IT sector’s growth is also buoyed by significant infrastructure development, a nurturing skill ecosystem, and supportive policies tailored for the IT industry. A joint report by Nasscom and Deloitte identified Bhubaneswar as one of the emerging tier-two technology hubs in India, highlighting its rapid ascent in the IT domain.

Additionally, the recent inauguration of Concentrix BPO by Chief Minister Patnaik underscores the state’s appeal to leading global professional services firms.
