Blinkit, known for its success in grocery delivery, has ventured into emergency services by launching a 10-minute ambulance booking service in Gurugram. The initiative aims to provide rapid access to emergency medical assistance and plans to expand to other cities in the future.

CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the service on social media platform X, saying,

“We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities.”

The company has deployed five ambulances in Gurugram, with essential life-saving equipment, including oxygen cylinders, Automated External Defibrillators (AED), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, emergency medicines, and injections.

Each ambulance comes with a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure prompt and effective service.

Blinkit users in Gurugram can now book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance directly through the Blinkit app.

The company plans to scale its service to another major city over the next two years.

Dhindsa highlighted that the initiative is not driven by profit, saying,

“Profit is not a goal here. We will operate this service at an affordable cost for customers and invest in really solving this critical problem for the long term.”

Last month, the company introduced a new app called Bistro to step into the quick food delivery market. It also launched services for large orders and a ‘Blinkit Seller Hub,’ which lets sellers list their products on the platform.

Financially, Blinkit achieved revenue of INR 1,156 crore in the second quarter of FY 2024-25 (FY25), marking a significant increase compared to the INR 505 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
