Biofortified food startup Better Nutrition made an impressive pitch on Shark Tank India Season 4.
Founded by husband-wife duo Prateek Rastogi and Aishwarya Bhatnagar, the company focuses on enhancing everyday meals by integrating essential nutrients naturally.
Their flagship initiative, “Better Seeds,” collaborates with 150 farmers to ensure seed preservation and promote better nutrition across Indian households.
The founders entered the tank seeking ₹60 lakh for 1% equity, valuing the company at ₹60 crore. They highlighted their mission to advance nutrition in India through biofortified foods.
Their financial performance impressed the sharks, ₹10.3 crore in revenue in FY23-24, and ₹9 crore in FY24-25 (till November), with projected sales of ₹14 crore by the end of the fiscal year.
Namita Thapar made an offer of ₹60 lakh for 1.5% equity, along with a 1% royalty until the amount is recouped, with the condition that royalty would only be paid once the company becomes profitable.
Vineeta Singh was drawn to the founders’ vision and their desire to create a better future, offering ₹60 lakh for 2% equity.
After negotiations, the founders secured a deal with Namita Thapar for ₹60 lakh in exchange for 1% equity, plus a 0.5% royalty until the investment is recovered.
