Anupam Mittal is a business executive, entrepreneur, and angel investor from India. He is the CEO of People Group and the founder of Shaadi.com.
He was born to Bhagwati Devi Mittal and Gopal Krishna Mittal on 23 December 1971. Anupam was grown up with two elder sisters. From childhood, Anupam developed an interest in business while working in his father’s factory after college.
Anupam Mittal graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology in 1994 with a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Boston University before going on to earn a master’s degree in operations and strategic management.
After completing his MBA, Anupam worked in various positions at companies such as i2 Technologies and IBM. However, he always had an entrepreneurial spirit and was interested in starting his own business.
Mittal married his long-term girlfriend and supermodel Anchal Kumar on July 4, 2013. They married at the Jaipur Palace in Rajasthan. Anchal is a well-known model who appeared in the Bollywood film Bluffmaster. Anchal appeared on Bigg Boss 10 and writes about lifestyle, luxury, fashion, and beauty on social media. Their daughter’s name is Alyssa Mital. He enjoys travelling, reading, and writing in his spare time. In his spare time, he is much more interested in writing.
Shaadi.com, the world’s largest online matchmaking site, was founded with one simple goal in mind: to provide Indians all over the world with a superior matchmaking experience. When it launched in 1996, the company pioneered online matchmaking and continues to lead the exciting matrimony category after more than a decade.
Anupam expanded Shaadi.com’s reach and services over time by launching several other websites, including Makaan.com, Maujmobile.com, and many others.
He was the judge of the television series Shark Tank India (season 1) and is now the judge of Shark Tank India (season 2).
Mittal received the Karmaveer Chakra Award in the category of Social Entrepreneurs. He has received several awards, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2007 and the Dataquest IT Man of the Year Award in 2011.
He was listed by Business Standard as the top angel investor in 2014 and 2015 for investing in 25 and 34 start-ups respectively. In 2020, he got an award as Outstanding Serial Entrepreneur and Angel Investor by the TiE.
Anupam Mittal Foundation is also actively involved in philanthropic activities. The foundation contributes to a variety of causes, including education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment.
Mittal also appeared and produced in the Bollywood films 99, Flavors (film), directed by his close friend Raj & DK.
