Ranjit Babu, who headed the consumer electronics division at Amazon India, has stepped down, marking yet another senior-level departure amid ongoing restructuring at the e-commerce giant.

Babu rejoined Amazon in April 2022 as Director – Selling Partner Experience. In December 2022, he took on additional responsibilities after the transition of senior executive Noor Patel to Amazon US.

By July 2023, he was promoted to lead Amazon India’s consumer electronics division, overseeing the critical smartphone category, one of its highest revenue-generating segments.

This was his second tenure at Amazon, having previously worked there from 2013 to 2017.

The development was first reported by The Economic Times.

Babu’s exit is part of a broader leadership churn at Amazon India. Recently, former country head Manish Tiwary left the company, raising questions about its performance in key markets and categories, especially in competition with Flipkart.

In September, Samir Kumar was appointed as the new country head for India, managing Amazon’s operations across regions such as the Middle East, South Africa, and Turkey.

Other senior-level exits include executives Gaurav Arora and Suresh John.

Now it prepares to enter the quick commerce space with an offering codenamed Tez, expected to launch in early 2025.  Nishanth Sardana is another prominent figure closely involved in the quick commerce initiative.
