Aakash Chaudhry, cofounder of Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL), has launched Sparkl Edventure, an online tutoring platform targeting students in grades 6–12.
The platform recently raised $4 million (approximately ₹34 crore) in a seed funding round led by Deepinder Goyal, founder of Zomato, and Nithin Kamath, cofounder of Zerodha.
Rainmatter, Kamath’s fintech and sustainability-focused fund, also participated in the funding.
The news was first reported by ET Times, which indicated that additional marquee investors are expected to join the venture’s cap table.
Sparkl differentiates itself by offering personalized one-on-one online tutoring, focusing on students pursuing International Baccalaureate (IB) and Cambridge curricula.
Subjects offered include mathematics, science, languages, and business studies, with operations extending to Indian cities like Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad, as well as international regions such as Singapore.
This online platform builds on Chaudhry’s edtech expertise while embracing a fully digital approach distinct from AESL’s offline and hybrid test preparation offerings.
In October, Chaudhry collaborated with Pavan Chauhan and Ritesh Hemrajani, founders of Meritnation.com—acquired by AESL in 2020—to bring Sparkl to fruition. The platform combines personalized education with technology-driven methodologies, enhancing the learning experience for students navigating global curricula.

Chaudhry retains an 11% stake in AESL following its 2020 sale to Byju’s for $950 million.
Meanwhile, AESL is undergoing its own transformation under the Aakash 2.0 strategy, emphasizing scalability and hybrid learning centers.
Recognizing the growing pressures on students, Sparkl integrates monthly well-being coaching sessions, focusing on mental health and managing peer pressure.
