Direct-to-consumer (D2C) hair extensions and wig brand HairOriginals has raised $5 million (Rs 43.5 crore) in its Series A funding round, co-led by Anicut Growth Fund and 12 Flags Consumer Holdings. Lenskart co-founder and CEO Peyush Bansal also participated in the round.
This follows the company’s pre-Series A funding round in December 2023, where it secured $2.75 million (around Rs 23 crore).
The newly raised capital will be utilized to scale its on-demand “try at home” services to 40 cities and enhance research and development (R&D) capabilities. Additionally, the funds will support the launch of 25–30 company-owned experience centers over the next 12 months.
Founded in 2019 by Jitendra Sharma, HairOriginals specializes in hair extensions and do-it-yourself wigs made from ethically sourced real human hair.
The brand provides non-surgical solutions for hair volume, length, and color styling without the use of harmful chemicals.
This Gurugram based brand has partnered with over 1,400 salons and has established multiple experience centers in India and North America through a collaboration with the Kurves salon chain.
The brand competes with players like Nish Hair and Euphoria in the hair extensions and wigs market. It gained visibility after featuring in the first season of Shark Tank India, securing a deal of 60 lakhs in return of 4 percent equity from Ashneer Grover, Peyush Bansal, and Anupam Mittal.
