Str8bat, a Singapore-based deep-tech company specializing in sports technology, made a strong impression on Shark Tank India Season 4, Episode 21.
The company presented its patented Str8bat sensor, a cutting-edge device that transforms an ordinary cricket bat into a smart bat, offering real-time motion tracking without the need for a camera.
Founders Madhusudan Ranganathan, Gagan Daga, and Rahul Nagar stepped into the tank with ask—₹1.5 crore for 1% equity at a ₹50 crore valuation.
The Sharks were eager to experience Str8bat’s revolutionary smart bat firsthand. Aman Gupta, a cricket enthusiast, instantly connected with the concept, appreciating the founders’ journey—from passionate sports lovers to corporate professionals, now transforming their expertise into a cutting-edge sports-tech business.
However, not all Sharks were convinced. Ritesh Agarwal, Kunal Bahl, and Vineeta Singh opted out, citing misalignment with their investment strategies.
Namita Thapar, recognizing the brand’s potential, made an offer, leading to intense negotiations. Eventually, Str8bat secured a deal of ₹1.5 crore for 3.5% equity at a valuation of ₹42.86 crore from Aman Gupta and Namita Thapar, along with invaluable mentorship.
Founded in 2017, Str8bat is headquartered in Singapore and operates in the spectator sports industry. The company specializes in IoT, motion sensors, gaming engines, and data visualization, aiming to revolutionize how cricketers, from beginners to professionals, train and refine their techniques.
With a successful investment secured on Shark Tank India, Str8bat is now all set for significant growth, leveraging the Sharks’ expertise to expand its market reach.
As per Tracxn reports, the brand has secured a total funding of $4.02 million across 7 rounds. The company raised its first round of funding on August 30, 2017.
