Whizzo, a materials science manufacturing startup, has secured $4.2 million in a seed funding round led by Lightspeed, with additional participation from BEENEXT.
The newly raised capital will be utilized to advance materials science R&D, establish a cutting-edge design lab for fashion-engineered textiles, and strengthen its supply chain infrastructure across key manufacturing regions, including India, Vietnam, China, Bangladesh, and Indonesia.
Founded in 2024 by Shrestha Kukreja, a former executive at Zetwerk, Whizzo specializes in developing proprietary textile blends, such as cellulosic and polymer-based fibers.
These innovative materials are designed to meet the unique needs of various industries while significantly reducing time-to-market for product development.
Sharing the company’s vision, Shrestha Kukreja stated,
“Our mission is to establish Whizzo as an IP-driven leader in fashion-engineered and technical textiles. By creating proprietary blends and adopting a cross-border Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) model, we aim to bridge critical gaps and transform the textile industry through innovation, sustainability, and global connectivity.”
In a significant development in the manufacturing and technology sectors, Sanlayan Technologies, another startup founded by former Zetwerk employees, recently acquired a majority stake in Dexcel Electronics, marking continued industry expansion.
