The latest episode of Shark Tank India Season 4 showcased an inspiring pitch by Aseem by Aseem Shakti, a Mumbai-based fashion brand claiming to offer “India’s 1st Ready-to-Wear Pocket Saree.”
Founded in 2018 by Swati Singh, the brand impressed the Sharks with its patented instant-wear saree featuring an invisible pocket.
Swati Singh, the founder of Aseem Shakti, sought ₹50 lakhs for 2.5% equity, valuing her company at ₹20 crores. She highlighted the brand’s innovative focus on blending utility with elegance, catering to modern women’s needs.
During the pitch, Swati demonstrated the saree’s unique feature by draping it live, earning applause from Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh for her creativity.
Adding to the humor of the episode, Anupam Mittal, founder of Shaadi.com, tried on the saree himself, prompting laughter and his quip, “Bas yahi dekhna baki tha.”
Swati revealed the company’s financial milestones, including achieving ₹1.3 crores in turnover since April 2024.
The brand recorded a revenue of ₹65 lakhs in FY 2023-24, up from ₹25 lakhs in FY 2022-23, showcasing significant growth.
Additionally, she highlighted a commendable 20% net profit margin. However, Swati’s slight hesitation while discussing financial specifics drew mixed reactions from the Sharks.
After an engaging round of negotiations, Swati secured a deal with Anupam Mittal, who offered ₹50 lakhs for 10% equity, adjusting the company’s valuation to ₹5 crores. Along with the funding, Swati gained Anupam’s mentorship, which she viewed as pivotal for scaling her brand.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, Aseem by Aseem Shakti operates within the retail apparel and fashion industry.
The brand focuses on meeting the needs of modern women with its ready-to-wear pocket sarees, combining high-quality fabrics, diverse color palettes, occasion-specific styles, and easy maintenance.
The addition of an invisible pocket further enhances the practicality of this innovative design.
